Ilena George is a neurologist based in New York City. She earned her BA in English Literature from Stanford University and Doctorate of Medicine at the NYU School of Medicine. After internship at Lenox Hill Hospital and neurology residency at Yale New Haven Hospital, she completed a fellowship in multiple sclerosis at Mount Sinai Hospital. She was an Instructor at Massachusetts General Hospital prior to joining industry in neuroscience clinical development. As a senior in high school, Ilena co-developed “with their eyes,” a play in the interview-turned-monologue style of Anna Deveare Smith, capturing the Stuyvesant High School community’s response to the events of 9/11; the school is located only blocks from Ground Zero. The play has since been performed throughout the U.S. and abroad. Ilena joined the EST Board in 2019 and was drawn to EST's collaborative ethos and dedicated cultivation of new work, especially the emphasis on having a diversity of voices represented and on developing work related to science and technology.
